Caricom Helps in Haiti

At the moment, there is a delegation of Caricom representatives in Haiti, helping with the relief efforts. Caricom is lead by Chairman Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit. They have sent a number of dozen personnel to Haiti to bring medical supplies, to assist with minor surgeries and to aid in the overall relief efforts.

Secretary General of Caricom, Edwin Carrington, explained recently that the Community has decided to focus their relief efforts on the health sector and to aid in this area however they can. In addition, Caricom has been invited to be part of an International Conference on Haiti that is taking place in Montreal, Canada.
